Alaska Walkabout

An Epic 3,000 Mile Trek Across the Alaska Outback

No trails.  No food drops.  No rescue devices.

Marty Zajanc began a walk across Alaska with nothing but the desire to follow beauty, detour for adventure, and seek the hidden path of knowledge........
Ten years later, after nine wildly different treks and seven months of travel, he walked into Barrow, completing a 3,000 mile serpentine journey across one of the last great wilderness areas on the planet.     He was smiling........

About the show:

"All I can say is:    Wow, Fun, Fantastic, Spectacular.........all that and more!!!!   What a great talk!   Everyone had a blast, an absolute blast.  What a great night!  Thanks again, thanks so much!"
                                          - A. Buddington, professor of Geology, Spokane Community College

"Thank you so much for the Alaska Walkabout presentation!  The students were truly engaged with the humorous discussion and amazing photos and videos you showed them.  I received many comments from students who were inspired by what you did and what they saw.  I personally felt like taking my tie off at the end of the day and strolling away on my own journey!  Many teachers were able to connect your presentation to their classroom lessons and have productive discussions about students' goals, inspirations, and aspirations.  I wholeheartedly recommend you and the Alaska Walkabout show to other schools interested in an outstanding presentation."

                                           - Dan Kimzey, Assistant Principal, Polson High School

"From beginning to end your journey and presentation awed and inspired many of our students and staff.  Your message of self reliance, motivation, and perseverance is needed so badly by many of our young people.  In our, "Give it to me now because I'm entitled to it, not because I worked for it," society, your message is a breath of fresh air!  Please come back to PHS in a couple of years to share more of Alaska with us.  Thanks."

                                            - Jesse Yarbrough, Counselor, Polson High School
