     "It was my pleasure to bring Marty Zajanc to Powell County High School on Thursday, April 10, 2008, for his Walkabout Alaska program.  Approximately 150 students elected to attend this visual and musical performance.  As a veteran high school teacher, I can testify that it is a challenge for a speaker to retain the full attention of high school students.  For one full hour Marty had his audience enthralled with his images and stories.  His professional, multi-media delivery was dynamic, heartfelt, and often humorous.  I saw no fidgeting amongst the students (much to my relief, as the host and supervisor).  Furthermore, it was obvious from later discussions with students that he was an inspiration and model to them.  Here was a man who set an extremely difficult goal for himself--and achieved it ten years later.  It was beneficial for our students to encounter a person in the flesh who exhibited great mental strength, physical endurance, and a love for the natural world.

     Later that evening Marty repeated the program for the general public at our local community library.  Sixty-five people attended (filling every seat in our library's modest meeting room).  Again, the program was enthusiastically received.

     In summation, I can give high commendation to Marty Zajanc for organizing a most inspiring program.  He was a hit in Deer Lodge on April 10th."
